From the December 1, 2022, issue of the Record Enterprise.
Thornton Public Library Becomes FamilySearch Affiliate Library
TPL has now been awarded FamilySearch Affiliate Library status, giving patrons access to millions of genealogy resources not available to the general public. FamilySearch is a world leader in family history.
There are only a few hundred affiliate libraries in the country. FamilySearch has over 6 billion searchable names and 2 billion images of historical genealogical records, adding over 300 million free digitized records and images from all over the world each year. It also manages the famous Family History Library in Salt Lake City. It has amassed billions of birth, marriage, death, census, land, and court records from more than 130 countries to help you discover and make family connections.
“Libraries are wonderful local gathering places for learning. We are excited to have the Thornton Public Library as our newest FamilySearch Affiliate Library. It will help FamilySearch expand opportunities for fun, personal discoveries, and family connections to the local community,” said Paul Nauta, FamilySearch Public Relations Manager.
The library is supported by the taxpayers of the Town of Thornton. Non-residents who wish to use the many resources of the library (including Ancestry.com, FamilySearch, and NH Downloadable Books) may apply for patron status for a one-time fee of $40.
