Copies, Faxes, Computers, and WiFi
We have a copy machine, fax machine, and computers for public use. Come make copies, send a fax, or surf the net. We have public Wifi, so bring your laptop and start surfing!
Interlibrary Loan
The New Hampshire Interlibrary Loan System allows us to request from other New Hampshire libraries almost any book that is unavailable in our own library. Approximately 10,000 items are delivered via the Van Service each month to libraries throughout New Hampshire. The New Hampshire Union Public Access Catalog (NHU-PAC) reflects the holdings of the 375 public, school, academic, and special libraries that make up the New Hampshire Automated Information System (NHAIS). The ILL Vans currently make deliveries to our library on Mondays.
New Hampshire Downloadable Books
Did you know that you can download free audiobooks and ebooks to your computer or mobile device? Choose from thousands of current titles through the New Hampshire Downloadable Books program. Come into the library to learn more about how you can access this great collection of books from home! nh.overdrive.com
Free Access to FamilySearch, Ancestry.com, and HeritageQuest
Through a subscription program initiated by the New Hampshire State Library, the Thornton Public Library offers patrons free access to FamilySearch, Ancestry.com, and HeritageQuest. You can use the library’s new computers or bring your own laptop to access the site, using our wireless network. You can even access them from the parking lot! So, come to the library and begin exploring thousands of databases with billions of records that just might help you break down one of those ancestral brick walls!
HeritageQuest.com allows you to conduct genealogical search from the comfort of your own home. Please call for further information.
Cake Pan Collection
The library has a thriving cake pan collection for patrons to check out (or donate) those expensive, shaped cake pans that get used only once or twice before being packed away in a closet. The collection’s off to a great start with pans in the shape of the American Flag, a Baseball Mitt, a Football, Cupcake Trees, SpongeBob Square Pants, and a Tart Pan. If you’re interested in borrowing pans, go to our catalog and type in "cake pan," and you'll see our growing collection. If you'd like to donate some pans, we'll gladly accept them. Feel free to drop by the library at 1884 N.H. Route 175, or call us at 726-8981.
